Lucas Lapalm has officially committed to Briercrest College in Saskatchewan, where he will continue his academic and athletic pursuits as a member of the men's hockey program.

Lapalm capped off an outstanding over-age campaign with the Trenton Golden Hawks, tallying 23 goals and 30 assists in 48 contests during the regular season, along with 39 penalty minutes.

His steady performance extended into the playoffs, where the right-shot forward added nine goals and 15 points in 18 postseason games.

The consistent leadership of the Stirling-Rawdon resident was crucial in leading the Golden Hawks to an Eastern Conference Championship before they eventually fell to the Collingwood Blues in Game 6 of the league finals.

Lapalm honed his skills in his youth locally with the Quinte Red Devils before an impressive tenure in the OJHL.

Over the course of his three seasons, Lapalm collected 54 goals and 75 assists in 144 career games, while playing for the Pickering Panthers, Wellington Dukes, and Golden Hawks.

In addition to his regular season success, he recorded 37 points in 46 career playoff games, highlighted by a Buckland Cup championship and a national finals appearance with the Panthers.

At Briercrest, Lapalm will join an environment that emphasizes more than just on-ice success.

The program is committed to fostering a transformational culture that produces servant leaders with good character and strong integrity.

Players are valued for who they are rather than their achievements and are supported in reaching their God-given potential. Beyond pursuing athletic success, the program emphasizes personal growth in faith.

The school strives to produce graduates who live with purpose, establish strong families and contribute positively to their communities.

The Clippers compete in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association. Briercrest is the only non-Albertan institution in the ACAC.

Last season Briercrest went 17-7. The Clippers earned their first ACAC Regular Season Championship since the program joined the conference in 1997-98.

Laplam is joining the program at the perfect time. He will skate for recently appointed head coach, Carter Duffin, formerly of the Fort McMurray Oil Barons.

Lapalm will also follow in the footsteps of fellow Bay of Quinte native and Red Devils alumnus Theo Citrullo, who made a significant impact during his two seasons (2022-24) with the Briercrest Clippers.

Citrullo, a left-handed defenceman, developed his game with the Brockville Braves and Summerside Western Capitals before pursuing a degree in Business Administration. After a strong collegiate career, he signed with the Deseronto Bulldogs this summer.

Located in Caronport Village, about 15 minutes west of Moose Jaw and an hour west of Regina, Briercrest College and Seminary is a private evangelical institution with a rich history dating back to 1935. The college serves nearly 900 students, representing 60 denominations across Canada.
