Trenton will look to extend their record of dominance in 2025
With a 29-4-2-0 record, the nationally ranked Trenton Golden Hawks entered the Christmas break as one of the top teams in Junior A hockey this season. Their dominant play has them leading the OJHL in several statistical categories.

The Golden Hawks’ ability to win games and put up big numbers offensively has propelled them to the top of the standings with multiple players driving the scoring and team success.
Offensive Highlights:
David Fournier ranks second in overall league scoring with 59 points (29 goals, 30 assists) in 34 games.
Taeo Artichuk leads the league with 38 assists in 35 contests.
Matthew Souliere has been a standout among first-year players, leading all rookies with 18 goals.
Corbin Roach has been instrumental on the penalty kill, tying the league lead with three shorthanded goals.
Cooper Matthews has excelled in clutch situations and is tied for the league lead in game winners with six.
Trenton owns the best power play in the Eastern Conference, operating at 25.0 percent this season.
The Golden Hawks have seen impressive offensive performances throughout the lineup. Seven forwards are currently averaging more than a point per game showcasing their scoring depth.
Defensive Highlights
The Golden Hawks have also been dominant defensively. They have allowed the fourth-fewest goals against in the league and boast the sixth best penalty-killing unit.
The blueline is anchored by a strong group of over-agers, including Aaron Brown, Kyloe Ellis, and Trevor McDowell, who have provided leadership and stability throughout the season. They are supported by Jaxon Broda, Matthew Hicks, Reed Pettipas and Candon O'Neill, all of whom have played crucial roles in the defensive success.
Kyloe Ellis ranks seventh in OJHL defencemen scoring with 28 points in 33 games. Adding to his standout performance, his two game-winning goals place him tied for first among rearguards.
Aaron Brown has seven points in nine games since being acquired from Blackfalds Bulldogs.
In the Crease
The Golden Hawks’ are bolstered by their goaltending duo of Ryan Sanborn and Brady Spry, who have consistently delivered standout performances. Both netminders have been rock-solid.
Brady Spry has posted an impressive 2.61 GAA and a .920 SV% with 13 victories in 18 games.
Ryan Sanborn has been exceptional, boasting a stellar 1.40 GAA, .950 SV%, and four shutouts in 10 appearances.
Additional Achievements
Thomas Kuipers signed an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Brampton Steelheads and made his major junior debut with the club.
David Fournier, Corbin Roach, Taeo Artichuk, Matthew Souliere and Candon O'Neill, along with staff members Derek Smith (Head Coach), Chris McLean (Equipment Manager), and Leah Toffelmire (Athletic Therapist) represented the OJHL in the Battle of Ontario.
Matthew Souliere and Leah Toffelmire were selected to Team Canada East for the World Jr. A Challenge in Calgary.
The Golden Hawks remain focused on continuing their dominance in the stretch drive. With a well-balanced roster and standout performances throughout their lineup, the team is poised to make another deep run in the playoffs, building on the momentum of back-to-back finals appearances.
